So I am still running my challenge - from 0-10K. I am doing OK and have moved to cashgames -currently over at UB playing 6max NL25. I am following normal bankroll recommendations (I will move up/take shots once I have 20 buyins for the next level). I am currently somewhat underrolled for NL25 but I do not feel intimidated and I will move down if necessary.

I will try and post one interesting hand a day here starting today. Yesterday I started off real bad dropping 1.5 buyins both times doubling shortstacked donks up with top 2 vs. set.

So the hand in question I was really torn. I raise pf with ATh in the co and button calls. The flop is very nice for my holding...middle pair with nut-flush draw.
I pot the flop and 3/4 pot the turn but unfortunately I never get there.

The river check is really weak but I wanted to see how much he'd bet. I would probably have folded to a normal sized bet...but villain was the kind of player who acted weak when strong and vice versa. He liked to get his hands paid rather than having me fold....

So I don't know if my call is bad here or not but I sensed he was bluffing me. So after aganozing quite a while I make the call.

I posted the below challenge to myself roughly two weeks ago

So here's the deal.

I need to spice things up. So I have have cashed out 100% of my bankroll (except an uncashable $2 at Pokertime and less then $1 values all over the web...)

The only thing I have right now are cirka 870 fpp:s at Stars, about 200 points at UB and freerolls.

Here is my mission statement.

By August 1:st 2007 I shall have:

* 10K bankroll
* WSOP 2K7 main event seat
* at least 3 MTT cashes in the 4 figure territory
* cashed in a 20K guarantee at Poker.com
* Freeroll my way to the Aussie Millions through FullTilt

And I will do this without depositing a single cent. Or die trying. (I am allowed to take free money from sites etc.)
I will start an own thread for this in stats tracking and will also chronicle my downfall in my blog.

...was pretty disheartening...I have ran bad bad bad at pretty much everything except for the 4/180's...henceforth referred to as the Mac'N'Chee at Stars. I have final tabled 2 out of 3 this week, but other than that the week was hugely -ev...

I think I know where the problem lies though...I am again straying from TAG paths and have been dabbling a little too much with playing LAG except in the MacNChee where I know to always play ABC, since people will happily stack off with middle pair...

I played the blogger tournament on Stars yesterday, got off to a great start (was in top 10 after about 45 minutes) but made one move that happened to run into a calling station. He couldn't let go of an overpair on a QQJ7 (3 hearts) board. He called my bluff down with KK... After that I went on monkeytilt and finished somewhere 550/2200...

Friday:

The mrs. is at some work related shindy and I start up a set (3) of SNG:s on Stars while my son takes his midday nap.

Win 2, second in the third. +++

Friday evening:

Play everything I can find like a total moron, end up not hitting anything but an embarrasing "barely in the cash" in a $1 MTT and 3rd in a 45 man 10+1 all on Stars. I think I punted about 50-60$ of my Torunament dollars

Saturday: I deposit a little at UB and play Stud cash, and some MTT:S. Thanks to the Stud and my 100% deposti bonus I am barely breaking even.

I play the Poker.com BloggerTour and about 5 minutes in I run KK into AA.

Sunday:

I can't win a single pot basically. I play to WSOP freerolls at Stars and get horrendous beats in both. The second of the tournaments I get busted by the same guy runner-runnerign me in two consecutive hands with gutshot straight draws.

After some more getting owned I stop playing at about -$10 and just watch some big Sunday tournaments.

We had a long stretch of holidays here so didn't get to play much due to family visits etc. Anyway on Monday night I finally get set in front of the comp with a couple of beers and some scotch...(I usually don't drink and play but I had set an upper limit of $30 to loose in MTT:s / SNG:s).

So I start up one 4.40/180 and a double shootout to the Sunday million (both on Stars)...

I play real solid but somehow still manage to take a ridiculos beat in the 4/180 and find myself down to 120 in chips at the second level. I make the comeback of the decade and am back in the top ten with about 30 players left. I still bust before the money. The DS too I play real good and still don't win my first table.

So now it's around midnight and I am pretty drunk to be honest. I decide to rinse and repeat. And add an SNG at FullTilt since everybodyu knows that your multitabling skills increase proportionally with you alcohol intake.

Then about 15 minutes in to all three tournaments my ISP goes down for 10 minutes.

I totally kill the double shootout. I win my first table in no-time and end up with a 3:1 chiplead once the second table finishes (it stops with two left sionce there are 2 seats guaranteed). At the first table I promise the guy I beat HU his buy-in back...already sent it since I fear Karma.

The 4.40/180 I flop sets with like 75% of my pocketpairs. I crack AA with 33 and QQ with 88 and generally play real bad but still get there by sucking out. In the end I finish third.

I make it to HU at FullTilt by also flopping real good with my pp:s.

Moral of the story? err...Donkey players can win.

Then I decide to use some of the Torunament dollars yesterday (I unregistered from the Sunday million - I feel it's a huge waste of bankroll to play this for me - maybe when I have I much bigger roll...)

I play sober, solid and still end up not making a cent.

The dreaded downswing is here...(or was the shiny past just an upswing...you never know right...)

I have gotten ITM only 2 out of my last 9 SNG;s (won those two though) which is pretty horrible by my standards. I play pretty aggro though, pushing a lot of draws on the flop and lately I am getting called and not hitting my outs. Whatever. This was bound to happen and I hope to rebound soon.

Bam. I cashed out 50% of my bankroll...leaving me roughly 50 SNG buyins and 30 MTT buyins plus change. I decided to enjoy some of the hard earned money with the family.

I am currently working a Ministep on Party...it has been a joke so far..I am back up to the Step 2 after going back and forth with the same buyin a couple of times.

Nevertheless I am more and more convinced that I am an SNG player moreso than an MTT:er. I reached heads up in every single SNG I played yesterday whereas I didn't survive past 2:nd break in any MTT:s.

Looking forward to Poker.com this weekend again, where I hope to win my third seat to the final. These games are fun and the prizes are incredibly generous. If I can have one complaint it would be about the structure at Poker.com. I feel the stacks are way to shallow (1K starting stack) and the 10 minute levels to short. It becomes a pushfest pretty early (I guess that kinda is a good thing for us SNG:ers but it still involves more luck than I care for) and towards the end down to 4 or 5 handed there is absolutely no postflop play.

Played one 4.40/180. Finished 5 th:. A bit dissapointed at my finish since I had 25% of the chips and was leader by a mile coming into the final table. Gave lots away on a bluff....

Then I finished 2:nd in the BloggerTour freeroll event at Poker.com for $100 (so now I have two seats too ;D )

I have been home from work all week feeling pretty ill. Well at least I get to play poker...

But PokerStars stopped working (well it lagged like hell) for me the other day due to my ISP. So I cashed out everything and left 6.60 in there to withdraw an even amount....

Anyway the 6.60 is sitting there and I go on a small SNG heater running it up to $27. I cash that out too and deposit it at Paradise where I win a 5+1 and a 10+1 plus change from cash...

Now up to an even $70 I discover that Stars is working perfectly today so I put the $70 back and start up one 6.50 Turbo (busto in 4:th) and a 4.40/180 SNG.

Long story short: I am the greatest adn played my best game ever I think to cruise to a win in the 4.40.

I also put a little money in at FullTilt due to the Stars outage and am doing well there too.

My total numbers this week are sweet:

A full day went by...then...

I found out there was a 2:nd chance entry to the Freeroll on Stars where you'd get to play Raymer & Co.

So I played, and while I was at it I fired up a 15+1 WSOP DS and a 10+1 Freezeout. Just to discover my ISP had reached the height of it's mentrual cycle and cornholed me bigtime... I got so frustrated by constantly getting disconnected I felt I had to play the hands when I actually had a connection. It also made me fold Aces onces and Kings twice...

It all didn't end well...
So to console my self I went on the Swedish State-owned Pokerroom with a bit of coffeemoney I had left over from Sportsbetting last weekend.

In 1 hour I tripled up playing some shorthanded LHE and an SNG.
That was the biggest fishfest I have ever witnessed....

On to the weekend now. I feel like some squash and afterwards a dozen of beers. Have a good one folks.

Changes, decisions and goals

Sheesh. Yesterday was both horrible and good in a sense. I blinded out the first hour of the special freeroll at Stars due to my son refusing to fall asleep...Wet on to bust out about 5 minutes after I sat down.

Following this I went on a rampage and played a ton of MTT:s like a total donk. Not good. I salvaged some of the day though by winning a couple of SNG:s before heading to bed.

So I have decided - no more MTT:s for the time being. I am also giving up my Sunday/Wednesday poker nights in favour of trying to squeeze in ~1/2 15+1 Turbos daily (either early in the morning before work or in the evening when the family's gone to bed - or both).

Updates from now on will mainly focus on SNG:s. I will naturally still partake in attractive freerolls and various MTT:S, I am just killing of buying in to MTT:s for the concievable future.

First off I played the Bloggertour at Poker.com on Saturday...
The event was shorthanded - and I got off to a real slow start. It is hard to steal from unknowns / calling stations...

About 20 minutes in I double up though with top 2 in the BB...
A couple of orbits later I push a Q-high flop with KK and run into QQ...

I have moved up a level in buyins for SNG:s at Stars; am now on 10+1, 12+1 6-handed and 15+1 Turbos. So far (after playing 2 ;D ) I have a 100% track record in the 15+1. 2/2.

Later on today I will be playing a special private freeroll on Stars for Swedish players only where the winner will get to play Raymer, Moneymaker and Hachem live in Stockholm on May 12:th. Wish me luck... Apparently somehere in there is a WSOP seat too...

Another week has gone by.

I went berserk on Wednesday and blew 10% of my bankroll playing every concievable tournament on PokerStars. I went fairly deep in one but all in all the day ended with a negative bottom line.

So I have had to rebuild a bit - i have thrown in a couple of late SNG:s and managed to crawl back to almost where I was.

This weeks invite to the BloggerTour on Poker.com arrived, and I feel really tempted to pay (although I normally only play Wednesdays and Sundays). This weeks event is shorthanded (which suits me prefectly).

And yeah. I finally got back on the Squash-court, playing three consec weeks now (after a break for 2 years)!!!

Not much poker played really since last friday. I only do wednesdays and sundays and I haven't done anything out of the ordinary.

Party slammed 30$ into my account - which I ran up to just short of 100 but punted back donw to 20. They take the bonus back on tuesday so I need to make something happen real quick.

I am still running pretty good over at Stars but again - no very interesting cashes.

Sunday was pretty good though. Won a 3500 person WSOP freeroll at Party (unfortunately only a seat to the next sat which pays top 20) and finished 5:th in a 4.40/180

Background:

Our radio station is hosting a series of tournaments on Paradise, the format is freeroll - top 3 to smaller final. The final that I sattelited to today would pay the winner only - but he'd get roughly $15K that had to be spent within one hour at one of our biggest malls in Stockholm.

Anyway - we are 660 runners, and I am basically playing only cause my mrs. thinks it is worth a shot. I play good, win coinflips and find myself chipleader by a landslide with 2 tables left....

2. PokerStars 3r /10K guarantee - finished 547 outta 1900 - slammed my 77 into AA.. gg me.
3. Sportinget 10+1 /4K guarantee - finished in the middle of the pack - pushed the king high flush into the Ace high one....(this was free money from Sportingbet though on a promotion)
4. Bodog WSOP Cheapsseat - finished 20:th out of 60ish

I decided to play a little yesterday.

I had about 27 tournament credits over at Bodog - so I entered a WSOP cheap seat ($1 -> $20) and a turbo qualifier ($5.50 -> $50). I final tabled bot of these...fell just short in the first one but got the "seat" in the second one...

I also had a couple of bucks left at FullTilt so I entered a 4.40 Token Sat SNG and won it.

I now have more "credits" than actual money at both these sites ;D

I played again yesterday. I was extremely carddead all the way - and managed to eek my way onto the final table where I busted first (in 10:th).

I busted Biggestron (who hosted) with 22 vs. AJo. Ron was shortstacked and pushed UTG+2 after I called UTG with my deuces.

Maybe it was a pretty loose call...I figured he either had 2 broadway or a small pair...and decided to gamble since I wasn't hugely stacked either - but wouldn't be totally crippled if I doubled him up...

Anyway - these games are quite enjoyable and I plan to play as many of these as possible. Thanks poker.com...

God. I have been a real lazy bum as far as excersise is concerned. I used to play Squash (Racketball?) very regularly (3-5 /week)...now I just realized I haven't played in almost two years...

So my brother-in-law and I booked a court for play later today. Yes! Finally time to get back in shape.

But of course I can't find my shoes this morning - and I know I have a pretty expensive pair - but they got put in a box I cannot find while we were moving...so it ends up being re-scheduled for next week...bah....I am too cheap to buy new shoes.

I will probably have to hide in the bushes this bathing season too...

I qualified for the $1000 000 guarnateed at PS (I am Attilio over there) through a double shootout today. I will probably keep the tournament dollars though...we will see

I also cashed in a re-buy at Kiwi...but only $25 and I was in for $15.50.

Dang.

Couldn't close the deal on the Dirty Dozen jackpot. Finished 4:th after the 2 consec. win streak.

Still these are good to play with a small bankroll - it's almost poker, they don't take very long and the opponents are usually horrific. Plus you don't risk a lot of money. I guess I'll stick with these at Kiwi for a while - if nothing else as a little experiment on how far I can take the initial freeroll win and to see my stats after a big number of SNG:s.

I also believe that playing these gives you necessary final-table and shorthanded skill which are hard to come by should one only concentrate on MTT:s. Face it - you don't reach the final-table very often....

Dirty Dozen

As part of a little competition over at Freerollerz.com I have been trying to play as many Dirty Dozen ($2+0,40 - 12man) SNG:s as possible this month over at KiwiPoker with some freeroll winnings from one of our games there.

I have managed 46 so far this month and have a ROI of about 40%. The funny thing is that as the month winds down I am starting to do better and better.

Right now I have 2 back to back wins. 4 in a row wins you the jackpot of $2000. This means I won't multitable the next (hopefully two). wish me luck and stay tuned.

I recentley engaged in an argument with a player that is ridiculosly more succesful than me.

The topic was wether it is alright to feel happy with anything other than a win in a tournament.
The "better" player said: No - anything but a win is disappointing.

This might be the very thing that sepatares me from the better players - but i disagree. Although I totally agree on the notion of playing to win - not just trying to cash - I still think it is legit to be satisfied with other things than just no 1.

Just because I win doesn't mean I played better than that other time when I finished 8:th after having my aces cracked...

I think it is OK to feel pleased when you played good / your best pretty much regardless of how you placed. Anything else is being too results oriented. Remember that this is a long term game....

Yay me! I just won the first installment of the Poker.com Blogger Tour!
125$ and a chance at a WSOP seat later on. Wow. Real neat things can come from a little diary like this. The folks over at Poker.com even made a custom table for this event and it was a lot of fun.

The game itself went pretty smoothly. Built big early on but manged to give most of it away on a dumb call. Then it was basically short-stack play like Harrington dictates in Vol 2. Made a couple of good pushes that weren't called at the right time and sucked out once.

The headsup was pretty even back and forth but the final hand I had AQo vs. A6o and a straight fell down around me.

I am pretty happy with my play and extremely happy with the price.

(I also won another much smaller tournament today but that kinda pales in comparison).

Due to a lack of sleep lately I have played mainly SNG:s once the family has gone to bed.

I did a couple of the 4.40/180 man's at Stars and various others without any real succes. I played one 6 mn 35+3 at Stars and won that to pad my bankroll a little. I also finished second in a 6.60/18 man Token SNG at FullTilt - leaving me with a 24+2 tournament token that I will use for a guarantee tournament once the stars align and conditions are right for an all-nighter.

My main goal this spring is to freeroll my way into the WSOP ME and have been trying pretty hard at Fulltilt and Party.

I have come pretty close and am actually pretty confident and optimistic.

At FullTilt I made it to round 2 of the give-away - (round 1 consists of an 1800 man tournament where the top 36 move on to round 2). In round two I finished 11:th out of 450 - top 9 moved on to the 20 seat give-away.

At Party I made it to the 20 seat give-away but finished 300:th something out of 3000.

Yesterday I played both Party and FullTilt round 1 - wnt deep but not deep enough.

So it's up.

Poker.com is hosting a Bloggers Tour of which I really want to be a part - so I finally got the incentive to get this started.

I am PapaHun (at most sites, although Everlong or Attilio or JT_Suited occasionally) - and am one of the founding moderators and League Manager at Freerollerz.com.

I mainly play MTT:s (NLHE, Limit O8 and Limit Stud 8) and very rarely cash-games (Stud or Stud8) - but lately due to the arrival of another child and my age not letting me stay up all night I've dabbled into playing more and more SNG;s. Some of the sites have multi-table SNG:s which are right up my alley.

I almost get an MTT but don't have to play 4-5 hours to finish it. So I hope the choice of these will continue to grow across sites.

As far as playing yesterday concerns there wasn't anything really noteworthy.
